Utter visited the clinical skills center as part of his tour of UNMC.<\/p>\n

The tools UNMC uses to teach future health care professionals impressed Utter. <\/p>\n

“The technology we now use to train doctors and health professionals is truly incredible,” said Utter, who was joined on the tour by his wife, Kathy. <\/p>\n

The tour included stops at the human genetics laboratory in the Munroe-Meyer Institute and the Durham Research Center II laboratory of Todd Wyatt, Ph.D., who investigates chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).<\/p>\n

Before the tour, Utter and his wife had lunch with Bob Bartee, vice chancellor for external affairs, and Ron Withem, associate vice president for university affairs and director of governmental relations for the University of Nebraska System. <\/p>\n

“I’m glad Sen. Utter was impressed by what he saw during his tour,” Bartee said. “We are very proud of what happens on this campus and we enjoy the opportunity to showcase it for our legislative visitors.”
