\nFriedrich Luft, Ph.D., second from right, with Irving H. Dr. McIntyre is the son of the award’s name sake, Dr. A. Ross McIntyre. <\/span>

\n<\/TABLE>Friedrich Luft, Ph.D., recently received the A. Ross McIntyre Award during a ceremony at UNMC.<\/p>\n

Dr. Luft, professor of medicine and director of the experimental
\nand clinical research center at the Max-Delbruck Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin and chief of nephrology and hypertension at the HELIOS Hospital, Berlin-Buch, Germany, was honored for this expertise and contributions in the field of hypertension research. <\/p>\n

The award is named for Dr. A. Ross McIntyre, who served as chairman of the UNMC Department of Physiology and Pharmacology from 1935 to 1967. <\/p>\n

The McIntyre Award was established in 1972 to recognize individuals who make original and innovative contributions in a scientific field related to medicine or medical education. <\/p>\n
