Marlo Sellin, a Ph.D. student in the UNMC College of Public Health’s Department of Environmental, Agricultural and Occupational Health, was awarded the best Ph.D. platform presentation at the recent Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry meeting.<\/p>\n

The meeting is international in scope and Sellin competed against hundreds of students from around the world for this honor. Her presentation documented how sediment from two local Nebraska watersheds contains biologically active steroidal compounds.Her results were novel enough to be featured on Science News and U.S. News and World Report Web sites. <\/p>\n

\n<\/TABLE>Sellin collaborated with Alan Kolok, UNMC professor in the College of Public Health’s Department of Environmental, Agricultural and Occupation Health and director of the Aquatic Toxicology Laboratory at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.<\/p>\n

Kolok called Sellin’s distinction a monumental achievement; one that highlights the great collaboration between the UNMC\/UNO campuses.<\/p>\n
