The next step is microbiology, managing the yeast fermentation of those fermentable sugars.<\/p>\n<p>Triemert will talk about how air, light, time and temperature affect quality of beer. He also will discuss the principals of distilling for making vodka, rum and whiskey.<\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"260\" cellspacing=\"5\" cellpadding=\"3\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<TABLE border=\"1\" width=\"250\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"5\" bgcolor=\"B1D1E2\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\"><br \/>\n<B><br \/>\nScience Cafes on the Web<br \/>\n<\/B><br \/>\n<BR><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\" size=\"2\"><br \/>\nVisit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/sciencecafe\/index.htm\" target=\"_blanK\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/sciencecafe\/index.htm<\/a> for more information about the Science Cafes.<br \/>\n<\/P><br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE>Before founding Lucky Bucket and S\u00f2las, Triemert earned a bachelor&#8217;s degree in microbiology and chemistry, and a master&#8217;s degree in brewing and distilling from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He worked as a fermentation microbiologist for six years and was head brewer at Upstream Brewing Company. Lucky Bucket first launched in 2008 and S\u00f2las Distillery in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Science Cafes are held in Omaha the first Tuesday of each month. They are free educational events sponsored by UNMC, BioNebraska and the Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures.
