grant program for members of the Great Plains Health Research Consortium (GPHRC).<\/p>\n<p>This new translational research program is intended to galvanize new research partnerships among the consortium institutions, which are: <\/p>\n<p><UL><LI>UNMC;<br \/>\n<LI>Boys Town National Research Hospital;<br \/>\n<LI>Northern Plains Tribal Epidemiology Center;<br \/>\n<LI>South Dakota State University;<br \/>\n<LI>University of Nebraska-Lincoln;<br \/>\n<LI>University of Nebraska at Omaha;<br \/>\n<LI>University of South Dakota; and<br \/>\n<LI>USDA Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center.<\/UL><\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"260\" cellspacing=\"5\" cellpadding=\"3\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<TABLE border=\"1\" width=\"250\" cellspacing=\"1\" \/>\n&#8220;Translational research is important to speed discoveries from the bench to the bedside,&#8221; said Jennifer Larsen, M.D., associate dean for clinical research in the College of Medicine and director of the GPHRC and the Center for Clinical and Translational Research. &#8220;These awards provide chances to not only identify new collaborators for translation but to maximize those opportunities over the region, which will be particularly important to solve problems in rural health and rural health disparities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>These proposals must represent translational research, which is research that moves investigations from basic to clinical research or clinical trials into community settings. <\/p>\n<p>Research that includes a biomedical informatics component as
