\n<\/TABLE>The following is a list of recent achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students:<\/p>\n

Marie Bernard, M.D.,<\/B> deputy director of the National Institute of Aging, was among those to speak at last week’s NIA regional meeting at UNMC. About 100 people attended the meeting. <\/p>\n

Shireen Rajaram, Ph.D.,<\/B> director of the UNMC College of Public Health’s Center for Reducing Health Disparities, will represent UNMC on the University of Nebraska Diversity Advisory Committee (UDAC). The group advises NU President James B. Milliken, J.D., on issues of diversity and multiculturalism, best practices and will provide recommendations for universitywide policies. She will serve a three-year term.<\/p>\n

Brian Hasley, M.D.,<\/B> assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery, has been inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. <\/p>\n

James Armitage, M.D.,<\/B> the Joe Shapiro Professor of Medicine at UNMC, and his wife, Nancy, will be the honorary co-chairs of the Nebraska chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society “Diamonds and Champions” dinner on April 22 at the Embassy Suites in La Vista.<\/p>\n

Michael Molvar, D.D.S.,<\/B> assistant dean and associate professor in adult restorative dentistry at the UNMC College of Dentistry, received the 2010 Lincoln\/Lancaster County Community Public Health Award at the Annual Board of Health luncheon meeting on April 15. This award honors outstanding community service and contributions toward public health. Dr. Molvar was recognized for his many years of leadership to promote quality care and access to dental health services. <\/p>\n<\/a><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
