The event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. in the commons area between the Durham Research Center towers, 45th &amp; Emile Streets.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve always wanted to shave my head and this was a good reason,&#8221; said Higgins, who has family and friends undergoing cancer treatment. &#8220;Everyone says, &#8216;oh, you&#8217;re braver then me.&#8217; I say, &#8216;compared to what someone with cancer is going through this is nothing.&#8217; &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Higgins and the doctors, a number of nurses and other medical center staff, as well some staff&#8217;s family members, have signed up to go bald.  <\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in donating to St. Baldrick&#8217;s Foundation &#8212; the world&#8217;s largest volunteer fund-raising program for childhood cancer &#8212; contact Becky Hoff, event organizer and pediatric oncology and stem cell transplant case manager at The Nebraska Medical Center at 559-6589. Donations also will be accepted at the event.<\/p>\n<p>Higgins post on the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.unmc.edu\/alliedhealth\/\" target=\"_blanK\" rel=\"noopener\">SAHP blog<\/a> says those who make donations toward her $1,000 goal will have the opportunity to sign her forehead with eyeliner.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fran Higgins, an administrative
