Student enrollment at UNMC in the 2010-2011 school year set a record high with 3,486 students enrolled — an increase of 7.7 percent over last year’s previous record total of 3,237. <\/p>\n

\nThis is the sixth consecutive year UNMC set a record for enrollment.
\n<\/P>

\n<\/TABLE>“UNMC has seen a significant increase in its enrollment,” said Ruben Pamies, M.D., vice chancellor for academic affairs. “This is not surprising given our state-of-the-art facilities and the other new buildings that soon will be opening, along with our outstanding nationally recognized programs and faculty.” <\/p>\n

Among the enrollment highlights:
\n

  • Undergraduate enrollment rose from 811 to 958;
    \n
  • Graduate enrollment increased from 708 to 717;
    \n
  • Professional enrollment moved from 1,718 to 1,811; and
    \n
  • Post-master’s certificate in nursing program enrollment increased 41 percent.<\/UL><\/p>\n

    Below are enrollment highlights for each UNMC college, the School of Allied Health Professions and the Munroe-Meyer Institute.<\/p>\n

    College of Dentistry<\/B>
    \n

    • New dental students: 47
      \n
    • New dental hygiene students: 24
      \n
    • Average GPA – new dentistry students: 3.79
      \n
    • Average GPA – new hygiene students: 3.55
      \n
    • Total enrollment: 268<\/UL><\/p>\n

      College of Medicine<\/B>
      \n

      • New medical students: 132 (selected from 1,446 applicants)
        \n
      • Total enrollment: 497<\/UL><\/p>\n

        College of Nursing<\/B>
        \n

        • Total new students: 297 students (selected from 588 qualified applicants)
          \n
        • Average GPA of new students: 3.5 (based on the students’ first two years of college)
          \n
        • Total enrollment: 1,148 <\/UL><\/p>\n

          College of Pharmacy<\/B>
          \n

          • New Pharm.D., students: 43
            \n
          • Average GPA: 3.50
            \n
          • Total enrollment (Pharm.D.): 237<\/UL><\/p>\n

            College of Public Health<\/B>
            \n

            • Total enrollment: 111
              \n
            • Doctoral students: 30
              \n
            • Master’s students: 71
              \n
