Maurer, M.D., to the National Health Care Workforce Commission (NHCWC).<\/p>\n<p><HR><\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"50\" cellspacing=\"10\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/BenNelson1010.jpg\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" alt=\"picture disc.\"><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size:7pt;line-height:150%\">Ben Nelson<\/span><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE>&#8220;Dr. Maurer has led UNMC to new heights. He has successfully addressed workforce shortages in Nebraska by increasing enrollments in both the College of Medicine and the College of Nursing and by implementing accelerated family medicine and primary care residency programs. Under his leadership, UNMC has initiated and strengthened a number of pipeline programs, which are increasing the number of rural practitioners across Nebraska.&#8221; &#8212; <B>U.S. Sen. Through his leadership, UNMC has completed construction on two new research towers, a medical education building, and new buildings for the College of Nursing, College of Public Health, and Geriatrics.
