\nFood barrels will be placed at:
\n

  • The Durham Research Center;
    \n
  • The Munroe-Meyer Institute (just inside the yellow canopy);
    \n
  • The Student Life Center (south entrance);
    \n
  • College of Nursing commons area;
    \n
  • Wittson Hall entrance;
    \n
  • 4230 Building, north entrance; and
    \n
  • Sorrell Center commons area.<\/UL>

    \n<\/TABLE>The Nebraska Medical Center, UNMC, UNMC Physicians, Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital and Clarkson College are stepping up to the plate with the annual food drive to benefit the Food Bank for the Heartland.<\/p>\n

    The theme for the two week drive is “Giving a Little Helps a Lot.” <\/p>\n

    The drive – which is organized by the Nurses’ Week Committee and others — will run from Nov. 1 to 14. <\/p>\n

    Remember to check the expiration dates and try to avoid food items in glass containers. According to the Food Bank, food items always in demand include:
    \n

    • Macaroni and cheese;
      \n
    • Peanut butter;
      \n
    • Canned meats;
      \n
    • Canned fruit; and
      \n
    • Green beans.<\/UL><\/p>\n

      Numerous collection bins will be placed throughout campus for employees to place their non-perishable food donations. <\/p>\n

      Last year more than five tons of food — 10,600 pounds — was collected during the drive. <\/p>\n

      The campus goal for this year is six tons — or 12,000 pounds — of food.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
