UNMC has been tobacco-free for more than a year. <\/p>\n<p><B>Setting the example<\/B><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As health-care organizations, we are excited to set the example for a healthy community,&#8221; said President and CEO Glenn Fosdick. &#8220;To many, this will be welcomed as a long-awaited and overdue event. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our message is not that everyone must stop smoking. However, as a health-care entity, we clearly cannot support the dangers posed to the health of our patients, staff or visitors.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p><B>Tobacco cessation classes offered<\/B><\/p>\n<p>Free tobacco-cessation classes for employees who wish to &#8220;kick the habit&#8221; are scheduled for:<br \/>\n<UL><LI>Today;<br \/>\n<LI>March 28; and<br \/>\n<LI>April 4.<\/UL><\/p>\n<p>The classes &#8212; offered by Tom Klingemann, Pharm.D. &#8212; run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the East Campus Corporate Pavilion, 3333 Farnam St. (Mutual Of Omaha Bank Building) on the fifth floor in the UNMC Physician Administrative offices conference rooms.
