Parking rates will increase July 1 for the first time in nine years. <\/p>\n

Employees will pay approximately 8 percent more per month.<\/p>\n

“Parking Services continually looks for ways to keep costs down and employee parking rates low,” said Tina Spencer, manager of Bookstore & Parking Services. “Unfortunately, inflationary factors have made it necessary to adjust the rates. It is a decision that comes only after careful consideration and debate.”<\/p>\n

\nUNMC employees can renew their parking by going to the Employee Self Service Web site<\/a> and clicking on “Renew Parking” in the Parking section.<\/p>\n

Hospital employees can renew their parking by going to the hospital intranet homepage<\/a> and clicking on “Parking Services” in the Employee Resources section. <\/p>\n

All renewals should be completed by July 15.

\n<\/TABLE>The rate increase is necessary to cover such annual operating expenses as ongoing repairs and maintenance of lots, Spencer said. It also covers leased parking stalls, equipment, lot improvements and administrative costs.<\/p>\n

If you’ve already renewed through 2013 and wish to cancel your parking, contact Parking Services via email at unmc parking@unmc.edu<\/a> before July 1. <\/p>\n

On a brighter note, UNMC will gain approximately 700 additional parking stalls this summer as the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) moves to its new location northwest of the Eppley Airfield. As a result, employees will have the option of moving to OPPD’s vacated space on South Saddle Creek Road. <\/p>\n

“Acquisition of the former OPPD stalls provides us with much needed parking,” Spencer said. “As employees move, it will free up space in parking lots across campus and enable some to park closer than they currently do.” <\/p>\n
