\n<\/TABLE>“Some months back … my collaborators and I had an NIH grant that was (coming) due, Sue called me from home in bed with pneumonia to check in and offer her help to get the grant out the door,” said Sam Sanderson, Ph.D., associate professor in the School of Allied Health, illustrating the dedication that has earned Prusia praise from within and outside the Allied Health community.<\/p>\n

Below we hear more from Prusia, the June recipient of the Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ award.<\/p>\n

Describe your job in laymen terms.<\/B><\/p>\n

I manage the day-to-day finances of the School of Allied Health Professions, manage the budget process and I’m responsible for the grant submissions, pre- and post-award. <\/p>\n

What is your best on-the-job memory? <\/B><\/p>\n

Besides receiving this prestigious award, it would have to be my first day on the job when I knew that working here was going to be like nowhere else I’ve ever worked. Everyone in my department and throughout the campus made me feel so welcome. I knew I had found my “forever” job.<\/p>\n

What is the best part of your job? <\/B> <\/p>\n

Working for a company that recognizes your achievements and rewards you for them. The mentors who are available to you for guidance in your job and life. The wonderful training opportunities offered through UNMC to keep you up-to-date and growing and learning in your own job and beyond. Working with wonderful people across the UNMC campus. The people I work with on all aspects of my job, are so friendly and helpful. It makes for great teamwork. Having a variety of tasks in my job, which keeps things from getting routine.
