Current research has already done this for skin cells to blood progenitor cells, neurons, dopaminergic neurons and cardiomyocytes. In this study, we try to screen the novel candidates of transcription factors and investigate the possibility of direct conversion of somatic cells into neural progenitor cells. This strategy will provide a valuable cell source for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.<\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"260\" cellspacing=\"5\" cellpadding=\"3\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<TABLE border=\"1\" width=\"250\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"5\" bgcolor=\"EAE4A9\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\"><br \/>\n<B><br \/>\nPoster presentation<br \/>\n<\/B><br \/>\n<BR><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\" size=\"2\"><br \/>\nPrice and UNMC&#8217;s other Summer Undergraduate Research Program students will share their research at a poster presentation today from noon to 2 p.m. in the Durham Research Center II Commons Area.<br \/>\n<\/P><br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE><B>How will it help you in your future career? <\/B><\/p>\n<p>As a future physician scientist, this sort of hands-on experience will help me understand all the time and effort that goes into research. I am now familiar with the realistic expectations from the laboratory setting. <\/p>\n<p><B>What would you tell a prospective SURP student?<\/B><\/p>\n<p>A prospective SURP student should come to the lab with an open mind and be prepared to learn a lot.
