{"id":38782,"date":"2011-08-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-08-24T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2011\/08\/24\/wellness-wednesday-still-time-to-make-the-splash\/"},"modified":"2011-08-24T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-08-24T05:00:00","slug":"wellness-wednesday-still-time-to-make-the-splash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2011\/08\/24\/wellness-wednesday-still-time-to-make-the-splash\/","title":{"rendered":"Wellness Wednesday &#8211; Still time to make the splash"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Registration is still open for Saturday&#8217;s &#8220;Big Splash,&#8221; a recreational and competitive swimming fundraiser that has garnered more than $50,000 for children and adults with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p><B>What:<\/B> The event brings together swimmers of all abilities and ages to compete in a variety of races and relays for recreational, competitive, adaptive and assisted swimmers.<\/p>\n<p><B>Why:<\/B> Proceeds raised support UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) programs for individuals with diverse disabilities.<\/p>\n<p><B>Where:<\/B> Competitive events will be held at Millard West High School Pool (5710 S. 176th Ave.). Lunch with Olympic swimmer Kathleen Hersey will follow at the school. A Family Swim &amp; Splash Party will be held at Rockbrook Swimming Pool (10800 W. Center Road).<\/p>\n<p><B>When:<\/B><br \/>\n<UL><LI>Competitions &#8212; 8 a.m. to noon;<br \/>\n<LI>Lunch with Olympian Kathleen Hersey &#8212; noon; and<br \/>\n<LI>Swim party &#8212; 1 to 3 p.m.<\/UL><\/p>\n<p><B>Cost and registration:<\/B> $25 per participant for any combination of events, including the swim party. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sportssignup.com\/Munroe-Meyer-Big-Splash-Online-Registration.start\" target=\"_blanK\" rel=\"noopener\">Register online<\/a>. All swimmers receive a Big Splash T-shirt, free admission to the Swim &amp; Splash party and free lunch. Lunch is $5 for non-participants. Scholarships are available for adaptive and assisted swimmers.
