care as a basic human right are among the topics that will be presented at the fourth Midwestern Global Health Conference Sept. 9-11 at the Embassy Suites Downtown in the Old Market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">&ldquo;Building Global Well-being: The Quest for Sustainable Solutions,&rdquo; is the focus of the three-day conference, which is expected to draw health care practitioners, students and aid workers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">The conference is open to the public and sponsored by the University of Nebraska Medical Center division of International Health and Education, the Student Alliance for Global Health and the International Division of Ophthalmology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">Geoff Tabin, M.D., co-founder of the Himalayan Cataract Project, Nicholas Comninellis, M.D., founder of the Institute for International Medicine, and Randy Strash, director for emergency response with World Vision, are three of the keynote speakers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">&ldquo;We have a stellar lineup of global health experts who have lived and worked all over the world,&rdquo; said Sara Pirtle, coordinator, International Health and Medical Education at UNMC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">&ldquo;Global health conferences are held annually on the east and west coasts, but it is rare to find one of this quality in the Midwest,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;We are excited to offer this depth of global health expertise and knowledge to the medical communities and general public in the greater Omaha area.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: black;font-size: 12pt\">The global health conference also features breakout sessions on medical missions, health care for Native Americans, and
