{"id":39480,"date":"2011-11-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-29T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2011\/11\/29\/whats-new-with-nuflex-for-2012\/"},"modified":"2011-11-29T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2011-11-29T06:00:00","slug":"whats-new-with-nuflex-for-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2011\/11\/29\/whats-new-with-nuflex-for-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s new with NUFlex for 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Below are some facts about changes and new developments with NUFlex benefits for 2012.<\/p>\n<p><B>Coverage for children younger than 26<\/B><\/p>\n<p>Benefits-eligible employees can enroll their adult children under the age of 26 in the NUFlex 2012 plan even if the young adult:<br \/>\n<UL><LI>No longer lives with his or her parents;<br \/>\n<LI>Is not a dependent on a parent&#8217;s tax return;<br \/>\n<LI>Is employed;<br \/>\n<LI>Has the option of employer-provided benefits; or<br \/>\n<LI>Is no longer a student.<\/UL><\/p>\n<p>Adult children will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, dependent AD&amp;D, dependent life and Health Care Reimbursement account participation. Adult children younger than 26 may be enrolled during the NUFlex enrollment period, which ends Friday. <\/p>\n<p>Employees who elect to add adult children must provide copies of birth certificates for those children to their Campus Benefits Office by Friday. <\/p>\n<p><B>NUFlex enrollment changes<\/B><br \/>\n<UL><LI>Employees can now make changes to dental and vision care insurance coverage every year during the annual NUFlex enrollment.<br \/>\n<LI>Employees are now required to declare tobacco\/nicotine status every year during NUFlex enrollment. If you do not declare your tobacco\/nicotine usage during 2012 NUFlex enrollment, you will be automatically designated as a tobacco\/nicotine user for your Voluntary Life Insurance coverage. <\/UL><\/p>\n<p><B>Medical insurance\/prescription drug program <\/B><br \/>\n<UL><LI>Blue Cross Blue Shield medical plan price tags will decrease by $2 per month in 2012 for employees with a 100 percent FTE.<br \/>\n<LI>Caremark will introduce a new drug program called &#8220;Step Therapy,&#8221; effective Jan. 1, 2012. If you are affected by the program, CVS Caremark will send you more information.<br \/>\n<LI>Reimbursement for diabetic insulin pump supplies will be allowed at Blue Cross Blue Shield in addition to CVS Caremark in 2012. <\/UL><\/p>\n<p><B>Dental insurance<\/B><br \/>\n<UL><LI>There is no change in dental plan price tags for 2012.<br \/>\n<LI>Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska has increased the number of national (out-of-state) dental network PPO providers, effective Jan. 1, 2012. <\/UL><\/p>\n<p><B>Vision care benefits <\/B><br \/>\n<UL><LI>Annual allowances for contacts and frames will increase for 2012.<br \/>\n<LI>Monthly premiums will increase for 2012. Increases will differ, depending on your coverage. <\/UL><\/p>\n<p><B>Long-term disability<\/B><br \/>\n<UL><LI>Long term disability premiums will decrease 10 percent for 2012. <\/UL> <\/p>\n<p><B>Long-term care <\/B><br \/>\n<UL><LI>This year you have the opportunity to increase your daily and lifetime maximum benefit amounts.<\/UL><\/p>\n<p><B>Learn more<\/B><\/p>\n<p>See this information and more in the <a href=\"https:\/\/app1.unmc.edu\/PublicAffairs\/TodaySite\/images\/siteimages\/2012 NUFlex Newsletter.pdf\" target=\"_blanK\" rel=\"noopener\">NUFlex enrollment 2012 newsletter<\/a>.
