Work at UNMC is a family affair for Alice Weyant. <\/p>\n

Her father worked here. She has worked here for almost 35 years. Two of her children work here. Heck, she got so comfortable she nearly delivered her second child — Kelly, who now works in the UNMC Bookstore — in the old HR\/Benefits office. <\/p>\n

\n<\/TABLE>“I was at work when I went into labor and I almost didn’t make it to the delivery room,” said Weyant, a compensation administrator who will start her 35th year at UNMC in December. <\/p>\n

In that time she has mastered her craft and become what John Russell, assistant vice chancellor, executive director of Human Resources, calls an “M.V.P.” <\/p>\n

“Alice is a stellar, dedicated employee,” he said.<\/p>\n

Laura Bashus, administrator of the College of Public Health, agrees. “Alice has been a constant source of knowledge, applied with common sense and fairness. She is completely customer focused.”<\/p>\n

For her efforts and excellence, Weyant received the Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award for the month of December.<\/p>\n

Below, we learn more about Weyant. <\/p>\n

Describe your job in laymen terms. <\/B><\/p>\n

I provide support in the areas of classifications and compensation. This includes:
\n

  • Conducting job evaluations;
    \n
  • Providing salary recommendations;
    \n
  • Compilation and analysis of salary data from numerous survey sources;
    \n
  • Helping with position descriptions; and
    \n
  • Providing guidance to the business units and departments.<\/UL><\/p>\n

    What is your best on-the-job memory? <\/B> <\/p>\n

    I’d have to say leading the implementation of the human resources module of our current SAP system to the UNMC campus. Although one of the biggest projects I’ve been assigned to, I loved the challenge and was fortunate to have worked with some really great individuals across campus which contributed immensely to the success of the project. <\/p>\n

    What is the best part of your job?<\/B><\/p>\n

    There is never a dull moment in HR Classifications\/Compensation. It’s exciting to be able to experience the growth and continued growth at UNMC and know that, in some small way, the support I provide is a contributing factor. Along with that, I enjoy the people I work with on a daily basis, not only within Human Resources, but across campus.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
