{"id":39997,"date":"2012-02-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-02-29T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2012\/02\/29\/college-of-public-health-to-hold-open-house-march-9\/"},"modified":"2022-08-22T16:19:14","modified_gmt":"2022-08-22T21:19:14","slug":"college-of-public-health-to-hold-open-house-march-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2012\/02\/29\/college-of-public-health-to-hold-open-house-march-9\/","title":{"rendered":"College of Public Health to hold open house March 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>\nExciting career choices in public health will be explored during an open house at the University of Nebraska Medical Center <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/publichealth\/\">College of Public Health<\/a> on Friday, March 9.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe open house will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/publichealth\/MaurerCenterforPublicHealth.htm\">Maurer Center for Public Health<\/a>, 519 S. 40th Plaza Circle.<\/p>\n<p>\nThis one-day event provides prospective students with a basic understanding of the field of public health and the academic public health programs at UNMC. Students will have the opportunity to meet with public health leadership, faculty, researchers and current students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\nThe open house is for students, pre-health advisors and career counselors who want a greater understanding of the field of public health and all the opportunities for education and research in the College of Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>\nIn addition, experts will lead discussions on health reform and public health careers. Panel members will include representatives from the following organizations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\nCenters for Disease Control<\/li>\n<li>\nAssociation of Maternal and Child Health Programs<\/li>\n<li>\nUnited States Department of Agriculture<\/li>\n<li>\nGallup Consulting<\/li>\n<li>\nNebraska Health and Human Services<\/li>\n<li>\nHealth Center Association of Nebraska<\/li>\n<li>\nUNMC &#8211; Governmental Relations<\/li>\n<li>\nNebraska Apple Seed Center for Law in the Public Interest<\/li>\n<li>\nNational Conference of State Legislatures &#8211; Health Committee<\/li>\n<li>\nRural Health Education Network and presidential appointee to the advisory group on Prevention, Health Promotion and Integrative Public Health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n&nbsp;To
