\nJuliann Sebastian, Ph.D., dean of the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing, was re-elected to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing board as secretary. She will serve in that role for two years beginning this year. <\/p>\n

\nPrior to being named dean in 2011, she served as dean of the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Nursing (2006-2011) and in several capacities at the University of Kentucky, including assistant dean for advanced practice nursing and co-director of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program.<\/p>\n

\nDr. Sebastian has served the AACN as chair of the task force on the Master’s Essential Tool Kit and as a member of the task force on the Essentials of Nursing Education for the Doctor of Nursing Practice. <\/p>\n

\nThe AACN establishes and helps implement quality standards for nursing education, works with nursing professionals to improve health care and promote public support for professional nursing education, research, and practice.<\/p>\n

\n Founded in 1917, t<\/em>he UNMC College of Nursing offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in nursing. <\/em>The college has about 1,000 students enrolled and is located in <\/em>five locations across Nebraska: Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Scottsbluff and Norfolk. About 40 percent<\/em> of Nebraska’s nurses with bachelor’s degrees are graduates of the UNMC College of Nursing. <\/em><\/p>\n
