\nDid you know your carpet could be causing your allergies? Is it better to use anti-bacterial soap? How far does spit travel?<\/p>\n

\nThose questions and more will be answered at the next Science Cafe, from 6-7 p.m., on April 10, at the Steel Grill, 2800 10th St., Gering, Neb. Shawn Gibbs, Ph.D., associate professor with the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the College of Public Health Department of Environmental, Agricultural & Occupational Health in the College of Public Health, will present "Environmental Hazards.”<\/p>\n

\nA certified industrial hygienist, Dr. Gibbs studies environmental exposure assessment and focuses on environmental microbiology. His primary research interests are environmental bioaerosols (bacterial, antibiotic resistant bacteria, fungal, viral) and water exposure. This includes source evaluation, source tracking and methods to reduce exposure.<\/p>\n

\nScience Cafe is a free educational event sponsored by UNMC and other groups to increase the population's science literacy. Hosted by UNMC, BioNebraska and the Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures, Science Cafes are held the first Tuesday of each month.<\/p>\n
