KRAMER:<\/B> Do you know how much that comes to? That’s a nickel a day for 20 years. It’s going to be $50,000.<\/p>\n

JERRY:<\/B> It doesn’t work like that.<\/p>\n

KRAMER: <\/B> If it’s a dime a day it could be $100,000! – “Seinfeld”<\/B><\/I><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Primal, universal fears we’ve all been haunted by: The boogeyman, big dogs, bullies, and overdue library books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\"picture\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\nOverdue library books can stand between a student and graduation.<\/span>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

Yes. Overdue library books. <\/p>\n

But luckily, last week was Amnesty Week at the McGoogan Library of Medicine. Fines were forgiven, up to $10, in celebration of National Library Week. <\/p>\n

(And, with late fees at just 20 cents a day … $10? Really?)<\/p>\n

There’s a reason people tend to forget to return their books at this time of year, said Sue Clark, who works at the circulation desk.<\/p>\n

“This is panic time,” she said. “Finals are coming up.”<\/p>\n

But this is important, too. Officially, one can’t graduate if there are any outstanding warrants, so to speak.<\/p>\n

See? Overdue library books.<\/p>\n

Has Clark, who grew up to become a librarian, ever had an overdue book?<\/p>\n
