\n<\/TABLE>Twenty-eight students from nine different undergraduate and community college programs have joined the Institutional Development Award (IDeA) Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) program this summer. <\/p>\n

The program was created to:
\n

  • Expose students to serious biomedical research;
    \n
  • Build a statewide biomedical research infrastructure between undergraduate and graduate institutions; and
    \n
  • Strengthen each undergraduate institution’s infrastructure and increase its capacity to conduct cutting-edge biomedical and behavioral research.<\/UL> <\/p>\n

      My parents have always been supportive of my interest in science and how the world works in general. Another person who influenced my decision to explore the sciences was my high school physics teacher. She taught me to never doubt myself and to never cut myself short.<\/p>\n

      I will definitely pursue a career in the sciences, but whether or not that that will lead me to a research position, I don’t know yet. There are a lot of options and I’m going to go in whatever direction feels the best.<\/p>\n

      Programs like INBRE are important because they allow college students who are interested in science and are not quite sure what they want to do yet to get the real, hands-on experiences they need to make a decision.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
