\nA conference intended to provide students in health care, law and business with information on how health care reform will impact them will take place on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n“Health care reform is a topic that is on a lot of students’ minds,” said Faisal Ahmed, a fourth-year medical student at UNMC who is part of a student group organizing the conference. “The experts who will present at this conference will provide different perspectives on the health reform law and how it may affect our future.”<\/p>\n

\nAtul Grover, M.D., Ph.D.<\/a>, chief public policy officer with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)<\/a>, will provide the keynote presentation at the conference.<\/p>\n

\nAhmed noted that the conference will feature several speakers who will explain various viewpoints on health care reform, and that students from the health care, law and business disciplines will benefit. Breakout sessions will offer students opportunities for in-depth discussions on various aspects of health care reform. <\/p>\n

\nIn addition, an employment panel will provide tips on job opportunities that will increase with the passage of the health reform law. <\/p>\n

\nThe five-hour conference will begin at 10 a.m.  and  will be held in the Truhlsen Events Center on the first floor of the Sorrell Center. Registration is available at http:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/govtrelations\/healthcare_events.htm<\/a>. The $5 registration fee includes lunch.<\/p>\n

\nJoining Ahmed on the planning committee are students Sara Houston, College of Law at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; Jenny Jacobsen, College of Law at Creighton University; and Nick Ingraham, College of Medicine at Creighton. <\/p>\n

\nAll of the students’ respective colleges, as well as the UNMC Chancellor’s Office, are sponsoring the event.<\/p>\n
