Editor’s Note:<\/em><\/strong> The UNMC College of Medicine is currently in the process of seeking reaccreditation through the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). The LCME site visit is scheduled for Oct. 6-9, 2013. During the accreditation process, Hugh Stoddard, Ph.D.,<\/strong> director and special assistant dean for medical education, will provide a monthly update on accreditation. Dr. Stoddard is self-study coordinator for the College of Medicine. Here is this month’s item: <\/p>\n

Question of the Month: <\/strong><\/p>\n

Who is directly involved in the LCME accreditation process?<\/strong>
\nThe LCME-published Guide to the Self-Study states: “The self-study task force should be broadly representative of the constituencies of the medical education program.” <\/p>\n

In order to accomplish this goal, the task force and all of the subcommittees have been appointed with the goal of achieving a large degree of heterogeneity. Any faculty members who have a concern about any specific aspect of our program should contact the relevant subcommittee chair to be sure that those concerns are discussed during the preparation of the self-study. <\/p>\n
