\n<\/strong>Wilka Toppins will present “Latinos in the Workplace” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Truhlsen Campus Events Center in the Sorrell Center. Free lunch will be provided to the first 50 attendees.

\n <\/strong>UNMC will hold a post-election media briefing on how health care reform will unfold in light of the election results. Brad Britigan, M.D.,<\/strong> dean of the College of Medicine, will be one of the participants in the briefing.<\/p>\n

Nov. 9
\n<\/strong>The UNMC Department of Psychiatry will hold an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. in its new on-campus location in Poynter Hall.\u00a0 The event is open to all faculty and staff. <\/p>\n

Nov. 15 <\/strong>(By invitation only)
\nUNMC will hold an event to thank the Omaha City Council and the Douglas County Board for their support of the UNMC Cancer Center project.<\/p>\n

Nov. 16
\n<\/strong>The UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences will host its first Huntington’s Disease Patient and Caregiver Symposium from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the DC Centre, 11830 Stonegate Drive in Omaha. Registration is free. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Donations to the Huntington’s Disease Research and Education Fund will be accepted.<\/p>\n

Dec. 3-7
\n<\/strong>UNMC Spirit Week will feature a variety of activities, including ice skating, a crazy hat contest, an interactive photo booth, a student broomball tournament, a “Pie the Professor” event for students, a scavenger hunt and a ping pong tournament. <\/p>\n

Dec. 12-14
\n<\/strong>CityMatCH, a national organization of urban maternal and child health leaders housed in the Department of Pediatrics, will hold its CityMatCH Conference in San Antonio in conjunction with the 18th Annual Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology Conference. \n<\/strong>The inaugural Nebraska Science Festival will feature science- and technology-related activities across the Omaha area, all with the goal of making science accessible, interactive, relevant and fun for kids and adults alike. Bill Nye, “The Science Guy,” will give a free presentation on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Joslyn Museum’s Witherspoon Hall. Other activities: include a free Student Expo on April 12 at the Durham Museum; a free Public Expo on April 13 at the Durham Museum; and “The Dancing Scientist,” Jeffrey Vinokur on April 12-13 at the Durham Museum. \u00a0<\/p>\n

May 17-18
\n<\/strong>Physicians and clinical staff are invited to attend “Creating a Culture of Wellness in Healthcare Settings,” at the Lied Lodge and Conference Center, Nebraska City. The conference will focus on physical activity, nutrition and stress management as methods of enhancing wellness. Attendees also will learn new strategies, resources and patient counseling techniques to improve wellness outcomes for patients.
