\nCareer choices in public health will be explored during an open house at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Public Health<\/a> on Friday, Nov. 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Maurer Center for Public Health<\/a>, 519 S. 40th Plaza Circle.<\/p>\n

\nThe event provides prospective students, pre-health advisors and career counselors with an understanding of the field of public health and the education and research programs in the UNMC College of Public Health. Prospective students will have the opportunity to meet with public health leadership, faculty, researchers and current students. <\/p>\n

\nPublic Health is the science of protecting and improving the health of communities through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and research for disease and injury prevention. Public health is focused on protecting the health of entire populations.<\/p>\n

\nThe University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved the establishment of the College of Public Health in July 2006. The college has grown dramatically each year, with sharp increases in research funding, student enrollment, and new instructional programs.
