Michael Crowe and his family recently recounted on the nationally syndicated talk show, “Katie,” the tale of how the UNMC College of Pharmacy student’s heart miraculously healed itself just before he was to have a life-saving heart transplant. <\/p>\n

\n<\/TABLE>Crowe, his mother and sister, Margie and Christy, told the show’s host, Katie Couric, that they initially thought Michael had come down with the flu but then his condition deteriorated rapidly and he eventually landed on the heart transplant list. <\/p>\n

As the transplant team at UNMC’s hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, prepared to give Michael a new heart, it was detected that his heart had inexplicably repaired itself. <\/p>\n

Crowe’s story unfolded in August of this year and amazed the doctors who cared for him. The tale circulated nationally — evidenced by this article in the Huffington Post<\/a> — and led to his invite to the “Katie” show. <\/p>\n

Crowe’s mother, Margie, said the medical staff at the hospital played a key role in her son’s miraculous recovery. <\/p>\n

“The nurses, the technicians and the doctors — his care was non-stop,” Margie said. “I just can’t believe the care he received from the people here.
