Fifty-five members of the UNMC High School Alliance are among the students taking classes at UNMC. <\/p>\n

The alliance students come from high schools around the Omaha area and take college-level classes at UNMC to prepare for health careers. Once each month, UNMC Today will profile an alliance student to let us get to know more about these young learners. <\/p>\n

    How did you get involved in the alliance? <\/B><\/p>\n

    One of my friends applied to be in last year’s class but in the end, she couldn’t fit it into her schedule. She was really disappointed but she suggested that I apply for the next year’s class. <\/p>\n

    What sparked your interest in science? <\/B><\/p>\n

    My AP biology teacher made his course really interesting, especially when it came to the genetics unit. The way something that is so microscopic in size affects humans amazes me. <\/p>\n

    What are your career aspirations? <\/B><\/p>\n

    I want to be a physician. I’m not sure what type, yet, but I know I want to help people. I love the decision making that comes with medicine. It’s scary but exciting and interesting. <\/p>\n

    What has been the best part of your alliance experience? <\/B><\/p>\n
