Reminder: Shut the sash!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Campus researchers are reminded to fully shut fume-hood sashes when they are not in use. <\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"250\" cellspacing=\"10\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/livegreenfumehoodsticker113.jpg\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" alt=\"picture disc.\"><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size:0.85em; line-height:150%;\">These stickers have been placed on many campus fume hoods to remind investigators to keep the sashes closed when they aren&#8217;t in use. <\/span><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE>When a fume hood sash is open, it essentially creates a large hole in the lab&#8217;s wall that leads directly outside. <\/p>\n<p>When they fully shut unused fume hood sashes, researchers help:<br \/>\n<UL><LI>Conserve energy and reduce UNMC&#8217;s environmental impact;<br \/>\n<LI>Ensure their safety and that of their colleagues;<br \/>\n<LI>Save the university at least $700,000 to $900,000 annually by ensuring the air exchange system runs efficiently;<br \/>\n<LI>Limit the amount of conditioned air that exits the building;
