Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.<\/p>\n

The College of Pharmacy<\/b> recently received continued accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education for the maximum eight-year period, through June 2021. “This is the best outcome possible, and reflects the contributions and commitments of all of our team to excellence in pharmacy education,” said dean Courtney Fletcher, Pharm.D.<\/p>\n

The new UNMC Gay-Straight Alliance<\/b>, open to any UNMC student, was formed to educate future health care providers in specific health care needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) patients, an underserved population in the state of Nebraska; to promote the health and acceptance of GLBT providers, health care workers and students through education; and to offer a safe atmosphere for socialization, while respecting the needs of many for privacy and confidentiality. \nReggie Harbourne, Ph.D.<\/span>

\n<\/TABLE>Reggie Harbourne, Ph.D.,<\/b> of UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute, received the 2013 Stephen M. Haley Research Award from the American Physical Therapy Association at the annual combined sections meeting. The national award recognizes a “Section on Pediatrics” member who has performed outstanding and sustained basic, clinical and\/or education research pertaining to pediatric physical therapy.<\/p>\n

The Surgeon General’s Medical Force Development Directorate announced the winners of the Air Force Medical Service Annual Award Competition. The 2012 Outstanding Clinical Dentist of the Year is Capt. Chris Fries D.D.S., <\/b>stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Okla. Dr. Fries graduated from the UNMC College of Dentistry in 2010.<\/p>\n

Dele Davies, M.D., <\/b>vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean of graduate studies, has been named to the board of governors for the Joslyn Art Museum.<\/p>\n

Colleen Wuebben<\/a><\/b>, who helped found the Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s hosted by UNMC the past three years, died Wednesday. A blessing celebration is set for Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. at Creighton Prep. A funeral mass will be Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo’s Church, 102nd and Blondo Sts. This year’s skate-a-thon raised more than $23,000 for Parkinson’s research at UNMC as well as the Parkinson’s Health Development Program.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
