He assumed his role March 1.<\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"250\" cellspacing=\"10\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/app1.unmc.edu\/PublicAffairs\/TodaySite\/Images\/SiteImages\/oupicky.jpg\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" alt=\"picture disc.\"><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size:0.85em;line-height:150%\">David Oupicky, Ph.D.<\/span><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE>Dr. Oupicky comes to UNMC from the Wayne (Mich.) State University College of Pharmacy, where he was associate professor and graduate director in the department of pharmaceutical sciences. <\/p>\n<p>He has 67 peer-reviewed publications, has contributed authorship of nine book chapters and held membership on three National Institutes of Health review panels. He has an active, NIH-funded research program, which he will transfer to the COP. <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Oupicky&#8217;s research focuses on the synthesis and evaluation of stimulus-responsive polymers and nanomaterials for drug and nucleic acid delivery.<br \/>\nHe earned his Ph.D. in macromolecular chemistry from the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, and is a former pharmacy teacher of the year at Wayne State.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Oupicky will share CDDN co-director duties with Tatiana Bronich, Ph.D., professor of pharmaceutical sciences in the College of Pharmacy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;David brings a commitment to excellence in education of both professional pharmacy students and graduate students,&#8221; said Courtney Fletcher, Pharm.D., dean of the college. &#8220;His expertise in drug delivery adds to the existing strength of this program and will help ensure that we remain one of the very best drug delivery and nanomedicine programs in the
