This is the third year the UNMC College of Public Health Student Association will coordinate campus and community events designed to raise awareness about issues that can improve our health and celebrate public health in different contexts.<\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"260\" cellspacing=\"5\" cellpadding=\"3\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<TABLE border=\"1\" width=\"250\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"5\" bgcolor=\"99ccff\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\"><br \/>\n<B><br \/>\nJones to speak on health equity<br \/>\n<\/B><br \/>\n<BR><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\" size=\"2\"><br \/>\nOn Friday, April 12, Minority Health Month will sponsor grand rounds featuring Camara Jones, M.D., Ph.D., research director on social determinants of health and equity at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her lecture, &#8220;Achieving Health Equity: Addressing the Impacts of Racism on Health,&#8221; will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Maurer Center for Public Health, Room 3013. Lunch provided to first 80 participants.<br \/>\n<\/P><br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE><\/p>\n<p>The schedule:<\/p>\n<p><b>Monday:<\/b> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Maurer Center for Public Health, Room 3013<br \/>\n<i>This is Public Health<\/i> Scavenger Hunt: Teams, limited to four people, may include faculty, staff and or students from UNMC.<\/p>\n<li>12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., Maurer Center, Room 3013<br \/>\nOpening ceremonies: Ayman El-Mohandes, M.B.B.Ch., M.D., M.P.H., dean of the College of Public Health, and Claudine McCarthy, student association president, will kick off the week with an overview of events. Lunch for first 50 participants.\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Tuesday:<\/b> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>7:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., Sorrell Center Student Atrium.<br \/>\nBreakfast Breakdown: Meet the College of Public Health. The student association will serve fresh fruit and coffee to publicize public health week and upcoming events at the college.<\/p>\n<li>Noon to 1 p.m., Maurer Center, Room 3013.<br \/>\nGrand Rounds: Nebraska Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program &#8211; Goals and Statistics: Jim Beavers, Kathy Northrop and MeLissa Butler of the Nebraska Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program in the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.<br \/>\nLunch for first 50 participants. Jim Stimpson, Ph.D., associate professor of health services research and administration, will introduce the documentary. A panel discussion will follow.
