{"id":43076,"date":"2013-04-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-09T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2013\/04\/09\/nebraskas-4th-annual-lymphomathon-to-be-held-april-27\/"},"modified":"2022-08-29T14:34:28","modified_gmt":"2022-08-29T19:34:28","slug":"nebraskas-4th-annual-lymphomathon-to-be-held-april-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2013\/04\/09\/nebraskas-4th-annual-lymphomathon-to-be-held-april-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Nebraska&#8217;s 4th Annual Lymphomathon to be held April 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>\nNebraska&rsquo;s 4th Lymphomathon 5K walk will be held Saturday, April 27, at <a href=\"http:\/\/nebraskastateparks.reserveamerica.com\/campgroundDetails.do?topTableIndex=CampingSpot&amp;contractCode=ne&amp;parkCode=0273\">Mahoney State Park<\/a>. &nbsp;The free event, which is hosted by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lymphoma.org\/site\/pp.asp?c=bkLTKaOQLmK8E&amp;b=6296735\">Lymphoma Research Foundation<\/a>, will begin at 10 a.m. with registration at 9 a.m. at the park pavilion.<\/p>\n<p>\nMahoney State Park is located just off of I-80 at exit 426, between Omaha and Lincoln.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Lymphomathon is a fun-filled, non-competitive event that offers individuals and teams an opportunity to walk in honor of those whose lives have been touched by lymphoma. A free barbecue will be held for all attendees following the walk.<\/p>\n<p>\nProceeds from the walk will benefit Nebraskans through free patient services and research grants. To date, the event has raised $250,000 for research.<\/p>\n<p>At least one Nebraskan is diagnosed with lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes, every day.&nbsp; About 450 new cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma are diagnosed in Nebraskans each year.<\/p>\n<p>\nYou can start a team, join a team, sign up as an individual or make a donation, by going to: http:\/\/www.lymphomathon.org\/Nebraska2013.
