The second annual art exhibit for the Artists in Recovery program will close after a final showing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at the 906 Studio, 16th and Cuming St.<\/p>\n

The exhibit is part of Finding a Voice<\/a>, a UNMC College of Public Health Service Learning Academy project. It works to identify, understand and address the unmet needs of Omaha’s homeless population through the arts.<\/p>\n

UNMC students and community members engage with homeless guests at the shelter and addicts in recovery to build self-worth, promote wellness and form a safe learning community where all can be treated with dignity and respect. <\/p>\n

Three projects occur at the shelter each week: the Creative Workshop and wellness education; Artist in Recovery; and The Turtle project – geared toward children and moms.<\/p>\n

Light refreshments will be offered Wednesday evening and Finding a Voice team members will discuss the project.
