Students will be featured for their participation in activities outside of medical school and for making a difference in the community. The goal is to recognize students for what they are doing and to encourage other students to get involved in the community. After all, medical school should be much more than studying.<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Personal:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nBorn: Grand Junction, Colo.; grew up in Lincoln, Neb.<\/p>\n<p>\nEducation: Lincoln Southeast High School; University of California, Berkeley (Majored in Integrative Biology, minored in Scandinavian Studies).<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Activities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\nUNMC Student Senator;<\/li>\n<li>\nLegislative Liaison to UNMC Student Senate;<\/li>\n<li>\nCo-leader of UNMC Student Delegates;<\/li>\n<li>\nPresident of the Student Alliance for Global Health;<\/li>\n<li>\nVolunteer for the Do JuSTIce STI screening program at Douglas County Correctional Center;<\/li>\n<li>\nI have always had a strong interest in public policy, global health, and social justice. I&rsquo;m very thankful that I have had the opportunity to be involved with organizations on campus that make me feel connected to these issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<strong>Hobbies: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\nTraveling;<\/li>\n<li>\nRunning;<\/li>\n<li>\nMeeting new people;<\/li>\n<li>\nLaughing; and<\/li>\n<li>\nPerusing news websites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<strong>Staying Balanced: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\nI try to go running on a regular basis in order to clear my head and maintain my sanity, although sometimes &ldquo;regular basis&rdquo; turns into &ldquo;rare occasion.&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li>\nFor me, it&rsquo;s important to find time to spend with friends and family. There&rsquo;s no better cure for a stressful week than laughing with your buddies or hearing words of encouragement from your parents.
