She&#39;s currently interim director of pharmacy and assistant director of clinical services at the Regional West Medical Center.<\/p>\n<p>\nPreceptors teach and mentor students while students gain experiences in professional work settings. They also advance high standards of practice, promote professional values and nurture professional development of the student.<\/p>\n<p>\n&ldquo;Students are always great to have at our hospital,&quot; Dr. Sloan said. &quot;They are a constant stimulus to keep learning. They are very helpful with projects, and they are my main &#39;tech resource&#39; for staying current with &#39;clinical tools&#39; on my iPod!<\/p>\n<p>\n&quot;Historically, we have recruited many students who are now clinical pharmacists at our hospital.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>\nFourth-year pharmacy students at UNMC nominated Dr. Sloan for the award.<\/p>\n<p>\nComments by the students included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n&ldquo;Her rotation made me actually think I could love hospital pharmacy.&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li>\n&ldquo;She was possibly the kindest person that I have ever met.&rdquo; and<\/li>\n<li>\n&ldquo;She has a way of instructing without making her students seem incompetent.&rdquo;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nDr. Sloan precepts UNMC students and those from Creighton University, as well as the University of Wyoming, South University in Georgia, the University of Arizona and the University of South Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>\nDr. Sloan has participated in UNMC&rsquo;s Rural Health Education Network activities. She&#39;s been licensed not only in Nebraska, but also in Iowa, Alabama, Texas and New York.<\/p>\n<p>\n<em>Through world-class research and patient care, UNMC generates breakthroughs that make life better for people throughout Nebraska and beyond.
