I moved back here to take advantage of the hands-on learning experience in biology.<\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"260\" cellspacing=\"5\" cellpadding=\"3\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<TABLE border=\"1\" width=\"250\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"5\" bgcolor=\"99ccff\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\"><br \/>\n<B><br \/>\nPrevious Profiles<br \/>\n<\/B><br \/>\n<BR><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\n<font face=\"arial\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2013\/06\/14\/inbre-scholars-meet-jeff-alexander\/\">Jeff Alexander<\/a>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2013\/06\/11\/inbre-scholars-meet-connor-griggs\/\">Connor Griggs<\/a>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/P><br \/>\n<\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE><\/p>\n<p><b>What or who influenced your interest in science? <\/b><br \/>\nMy mom used to be a scientist working in the area of cancer research.<\/p>\n<p><b>What is it about science that excites you? <\/b><br \/>\nThe fact that science can influence our lives instantly, while at the same time it is still constantly evolving.<\/p>\n<p><b>Will you pursue a career in science? If so, what do you hope to accomplish? <\/b><br \/>\nMy goal is to get into an M.D.\/Ph.D. program. I want to see patients, as well as be involved in cutting-edge research that would improve our ability to help patients.<\/p>\n<p><b>Why is it important to have programs like INBRE? <\/b><br \/>\nINBRE gives college students a better understanding of what we learn in class well before we graduate. It helps reinforce the material from lectures that will in turn help produce better scientists or doctors or pharmacists and the like. Also, the program helps students make better choices after they graduate. Witnessing how a lab works and the problems and joys of being in the science field gives students a clear understanding of what our future will be like. The experience gives us an advantage over our peers &#8212; the advantage of being aware and informed.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UNO junior was influenced by
