\nSex trafficking of minors in the United States is the topic of the documentary, “Sex + Money,” that will be shown for free at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Sorrell Center, Room 2010. The event is open to students, faculty, staff and guests.<\/p>\n

The film is sponsored by EMPOWER, a student-run project in the UNMC Service Learning Academy, College of Public Health. EMPOWER works with the Women’s Center for Advancement to develop health education, medical screening and women’s clinical services for women affected by domestic violence. This project was selected from more than 4,000 to be one of 15 Champions for Change projects recognized at the White House in 2012.<\/p>\n

The documentary, directed by Joel Angyal, follows a group of students as they travel across the country seeking to understand how the sexual exploitation of children has become the nation’s fasting growing form of organized crime.<\/p>\n

A discussion led by Anna Brewer, an FBI agent and director of the local Innocence Lost Task Force, will follow the screening of the film.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
