\nFollowing a nationwide search, Troy Plumb, M.D., has been selected as the new division chief of nephrology in the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine.<\/p>\n

\n"We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Troy Plumb as chief of the division of nephrology," said Lynell Klassen, M.D., chair of Internal Medicine.<\/p>\n

\n"Dr. Plumb has already demonstrated innovation and initiative in developing one of the larger home dialysis programs in academic medical centers," Dr. Klassen said. "He will continue to expand our clinical and scholarly activity with emphasis on home dialysis, complex hypertension, renal transplant and interventional nephrology."<\/p>\n

\nDr. Plumb, who has served as interim division chief since 2011, said he was honored to have been chosen to lead the division moving forward.<\/p>\n

\n"It is a great privilege to have been chosen to lead an outstanding group of faculty and staff," he said. "I have benefited greatly from the mentorship of Dr. Klassen, and I am looking forward to working with the nephrology faculty to expand the academic footprint of the division."<\/p>\n

\nDr. Plumb started the Nephrology Fellowship Program in July 2007, and he serves as the fellowship director. He is consistently voted one of the top teachers in internal medicine and received the Sir William Osler Resident Teaching Award in 2008.<\/p>\n

\nDr. Plumb earned his M.D. at UNMC in 1997, serving his internship and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. From 2001 to 2004, he was a fellow at Duke University Medical Center. He returned to UNMC in 2004.<\/p>\n

\nDr. Plumb's clinical interests include home dialysis therapies, acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease. He is also the director of the Home Dialysis Clinic.<\/p>\n
