Katherine &#8220;Kate&#8221; Hyde\n<li><b>Hometown:<\/b> Waterville, Me.\n<li><b>New title and department at UNMC:<\/b>  Assistant professor, department of biochemistry and molecular biology\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Research Interests:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Control of gene expression in leukemia and normal hematopoiesis.\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Degrees:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.\n<li>Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison<\/ul>\n<p><b>Previous Positions: <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Post-doctoral fellow, National Human Genome Research Institute, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md.<\/ul>\n<p><b>Memberships:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>American Society of Hematology\n<li>American Association of Cancer Researchers<\/ul>\n<p><b>How I fell in love with molecular biology: <\/b><br \/>\nSince my first biology course in high school, I&#8217;ve been interested in how a cell regulates which genes are expressed. In graduate school, I focused on this process during normal development. During this time, my father was diagnosed with leukemia. This prompted me to apply my scientific interests to a disease that has personal importance to me.<\/p>\n<p><b>Three things people may not know about you:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I like to do anything crafty &#8212;
