In addition, she will also see general infectious diseases patients and immunocompromised (oncology and solid organ transplant) patients.\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Specialty:<\/b><br \/>\nInfectious diseases.<\/p>\n<p><b>Primary Interest:<\/b><br \/>\nHIV prevention and treatment, HIV in women, HIV in pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p><b>Other Interests:<\/b><br \/>\nInfections in immunocompromised hosts, medical education.<\/p>\n<p><b>Medical Degree:<\/b><br \/>\nMount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, N.Y., 2006<\/p>\n<p><b>Internship\/Residency:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Resident, internal medicine, University of Chicago Medicine, Chicago, July 2006 through June 2009.\n<li>Chief medical resident, University of Chicago Medicine, Chicago, July 2009 through June 2010.<\/ul>\n<p><b>Fellowships:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Infectious Diseases Fellowship, University of Chicago Medicine, Chicago, July 2010 through June 2013.<\/ul>\n<p><b>Why I chose to specialize in infectious diseases:<\/b><br \/> <br \/>\nMy family taught me a commitment to the poor and disenfranchised early on in life. I fell in love with the field of internal medicine while in medical school, and from there, ID was a natural fit because it is challenging and engaging and allows for opportunities to empower the vulnerable. <\/p>\n<p><b>Memberships:<\/b>  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Member, Infectious Diseases Society of America\/HIVMA.\n<li>Member, American College of Physicians.\n<li>Member, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.<\/ul>\n<p><b>Three things you don&#8217;t know about me:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spanish was my first language.\n<li>I considered deferring college to become a professional ballet dancer.\n<li>I was admitted to medical school via Mount Sinai&#8217;s Humanities and Medicine program, so I never took the MCAT and still don&#8217;t understand how it&#8217;s scored.<\/ul>\n<p><b>Clinic hours\/phone number:<\/b><br \/>\nFor clinic hours and appointments in the HIV Clinic, call the Specialty Care Clinic at 402-559-2666.
