The panel will explore the challenges and the ways to recognize and respond to victims of domestic violence or assault.<\/p>\n<p>April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Members of the EMPOWER group and this panel hope the presentation will assist future and current health professionals to provide better care for affected patients,&#8221; Michalski said.<\/p>\n<p>The other panelists are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Julie Rannells, a Women&#8217;s Center for Advancement Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Victim&#8217;s Advocate for the past 26 years.\n<li>Anne Boatright, a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) and the SANE coordinator at Methodist Hospital.<\/ul>\n<p>EMPOWER will also host a screening of the documentary &#8220;Girl Rising&#8221; on April 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 2010. The movie follows 9 young girls from around the world as they fight for education. View the trailer  <a href=\"http:\/\/girlrising.com\/see-the-film\/\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>EMPOWER, a legacy project of the Service Learning Academy, provides education sessions and basic health screenings through collaboration with the Women&#8217;s Center for Advancement, empowering those affected by domestic violence and poverty through knowledge of their personal health.
