Gold, M.D.,<\/a> has been selected as one of 25 recipients of the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.beckershospitalreview.com\/leadership-management\/25-recipients-of-becker-s-healthcare-2014-leadership-awards.html\">Becker&#39;s Healthcare 2014 Leadership Awards<\/a>&nbsp;by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beckershospitalreview.com\/\">Becker&#39;s Hospital Review<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe awards recognize men and women who have made remarkable contributions and will leave lasting legacies to their respective health systems, hospitals and communities.<\/p>\n<p>\nDr. Gold became UNMC&#39;s chancellor on Feb. 1. The Becker&#39;s announcement references his &quot;previous accomplishments as chancellor of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utoledo.edu\/hscerror.html\">University of Toledo&#39;s health science campus<\/a>,&quot; adding that his work there suggests his leadership skills and vision for health care delivery will serve him and the University of Nebraska well.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe award announcement notes that under Dr. Gold&#39;s leadership, the University of Toledo opened the <a href=\"http:\/\/utmc.utoledo.edu\/centers\/cancer\/\">Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/utmc.utoledo.edu\/insideutmc\/index.html\">Gardner-McMaster Parkinson Center<\/a>, as well as added an orthopedic center, minimally invasive surgery center, medical pavilion and student library.<\/p>\n<p>\nDr. Gold and other awardees will each receive a token of appreciation for their hard work and service, along with recognition at the fifth annual Becker&#39;s Hospital Review Conference, which will take place May 15-17 in Chicago.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n<em>Through world-class research and patient care, UNMC generates breakthroughs that make life better for people throughout Nebraska and beyond.
