Fifteen new members have been named to the University of Nebraska Medical<\/p>\n

Center’s Board of Counselors.<\/p>\n

The Board of Counselors consists of community and business leaders from<\/p>\n

the state of Nebraska who serve in an advisory capacity to the Medical<\/p>\n

Center and Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D. The board, which currently<\/p>\n

includes 56 members, meets three times per year and is provided with a<\/p>\n

variety of presentations at each meeting designed to help members learn<\/p>\n

more about UNMC.<\/p>\n

The 15 new members are listed below by their hometowns:<\/p>\n

AURORA — Jason Schneider, dental sales consultant;<\/p>\n

BELLEVUE — John Barrientos, Allstate Insurance agent, Barrientos Consulting,<\/p>\n

Omaha;<\/p>\n

HASTINGS — Jan Scherr, nurse coordinator, Hastings Public Schools;<\/p>\n

HOLDREGE — Roy Pearson, retired owner, K.K. Appliance Company;<\/p>\n

NORTH PLATTE — Rick Kolkman, president, First National Bank of North<\/p>\n

Platte; Cindy Way, pharmacist, Great Plains Regional Medical Center;<\/p>\n

OMAHA — Lynn Grant, Elkhorn Valley Meat Packing Company, Dodge, Neb.;<\/p>\n

Larry Kavich, CEO, All Makes Furniture; Belinda Malone, president, Indian<\/p>\n

Hill Neighborhood Association; Randall Palandri, president, Savage and<\/p>\n

Palandri Architects; Cynthia Peacock, president, Methodist Hospital Foundation;<\/p>\n

Carole Woods Harris, Douglas County Commission; Tracy Zaiss, president<\/p>\n

and owner, Zaiss and Company;<\/p>\n

POTTER — Linda Shoemaker, vice president, patient care services, interim<\/p>\n

CEO, Memorial Health Center, Sidney, Neb.;<\/p>\n

WINNEBAGO — Ann Downes, president, Little Priest Tribal College.<\/p>\n

At the most recent meeting on the UNMC campus, Omaha’s N.P. “Sandy”<\/p>\n

Dodge, Jr., was installed as chairman and Kathy Campbell of Lincoln began<\/p>\n

a term as vice chairwoman.<\/p>\n

Dodge, who joined the Board of Counselors in Jan. 2000, is president<\/p>\n

and chairman of the board of N.P. Dodge Real Estate Company, while also<\/p>\n

serving as chairman of the Omaha Public Power District board of directors<\/p>\n

and director of American States Water Company and Bridges Investment Council.<\/p>\n

Campbell, who has been on the Board of Counselors since April 2002, recently<\/p>\n

retired her position on the Lancaster County Board.<\/p>\n

The Board of Counselors’ next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct.<\/p>\n
