Nebraska Florists To Raise Money for Cancer Research<\/p>\n

Activities through Bouquet of Hope Program during October<\/p>\n

Flowers are a great way to express ones feelings. Now, people who send<\/p>\n

flowers during the month of October also can send a message of support<\/p>\n

for cancer research through the Bouquet of Hope program involving 21<\/p>\n

florists in nine Nebraska communities.<\/p>\n

The program supports cancer research at the University of Nebraska Medical<\/p>\n

Centers Eppley Cancer Center. It is being sponsored by the Friends of<\/p>\n

the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center, a community based group committed to raising<\/p>\n

funds for cancer research.<\/p>\n

People can send a Bouquet of Hope through one of the participating<\/p>\n

florists located in Omaha, Lincoln, Fremont, Norfolk, Tekamah, Plainview,<\/p>\n

Wausa, Lexington, and Tecumseh.<\/p>\n

The bouquets will include a special enclosure card designed by Sue Kocsis,<\/p>\n

an Omaha artist who died this summer after a battle with breast cancer.<\/p>\n

The card depicts a colorful bouquet of flowers with the following message,Long<\/p>\n

after the blooms have faded, money spent for this bouquet allows the hope<\/p>\n

to continue through cancer research.<\/p>\n

For every bouquet sold, 20 percent of the proceeds will fund cancer<\/p>\n

research at the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center, said Jill Bydalek, a member<\/p>\n

of the Friends of the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center.<\/p>\n

If youre going to send flowers for any reason, why not send a Bouquet<\/p>\n

of Hope, Bydalek said. Its a wonderful way to brighten someones day<\/p>\n

while benefitting cancer research at the same time.<\/p>\n
