Proceeds from the<br \/>\nevent will go towards purchasing amenities for use by patients<br \/>\nand families who will stay at the Lied Transplant Center, which<br \/>\nis scheduled to open next year.<\/p>\n<p>The boutique will feature handmade crafts, collectibles,<br \/>\nantiques, jewelry, baked goods, unique gifts and a silent<br \/>\nauction. In addition, $1 raffle tickets will be sold for chances<br \/>\nto win $500 cash, $250 travel gift certificates, 27-inch color<br \/>\ntelevision and dozens of other prizes. All boutique items are<br \/>\ndonated and admission to the boutique is free.<\/p>\n<p>Hours are: Nov. 20, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Nov. 21, 7:30<br \/>\na.m. to 4 p.m. Free parking is available in the garage located at<br \/>\n45th and Emile streets.<\/p>\n<p>The Lied Transplant Center will serve as a national model for<br \/>\ntransplant programs, linking transplant research, care and an<br \/>\ninnovative concept &#8212; cooperative care. Cooperative care calls on<br \/>\nthe support of a patient&#8217;s partner to provide basic care<br \/>\nneeds, which reduces costs to the patient.<\/p>\n<p>UNMC is world-renowned for its solid organ transplant and bone<br \/>\nmarrow transplant programs, performing more than 400 bone marrow,<br \/>\nheart, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas and small bowel transplants<br \/>\nannually with about 75 percent of patients coming from outside<br \/>\nNebraska. Over the past 10 years, the UNMC programs have<br \/>\ngenerated more than $257 million, which includes more than $199<br \/>\nmillion from patients outside Nebraska.<\/p>\n<p>UNMC is the only public academic health science center in the<br \/>\nstate. Through its commitment to research, education and patient<br \/>\ncare, UNMC has established itself as one of the country&#8217;s leading<br \/>\ncenters for cancer research and treatment and solid organ<br \/>\ntransplantation. Nearly $25 million in research grants and<br \/>\ncontracts are awarded to UNMC scientists annually.
