University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry students,<\/p>\n

faculty and staff received honors and awards during the colleges 15th<\/p>\n

Annual Professionals Day on Friday, March 16. The event celebrates scholarly<\/p>\n

activities and provides students, faculty and the dental community an opportunity<\/p>\n

to share professional and academic activities.<\/p>\n

Student Honors<\/b><\/p>\n

Thirty-nine students were recognized for their cumulative grade point<\/p>\n

average of 3.6 and ranking in the top 15 percent of their class. The students<\/p>\n

Porterville, Calif. — J. Brant Darby — Pierre Fauchard Academy Dental<\/p>\n

Student Scholarship Award — In 1996, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international<\/p>\n

honor dental organization, through its Foundation, initiated a Dental Student<\/p>\n

Scholarship Award program for all U.S. dental schools.  The award<\/p>\n

is to honor an individual who has demonstrated great potential of developing<\/p>\n

into an outstanding leader in the dental profession. Qualities of intelligence,<\/p>\n

imagination, initiative, and integrity, as well as communicative skills<\/p>\n

are to enter into the selection. The award carries with it a check for<\/p>\n

$1,500.<\/p>\n

Richland, Wash.   Trevor Larson — Dr. Raymond Steinacher Award<\/p>\n

— The Department of Adult Restorative Dentistry has created this award<\/p>\n

to honor Dr. Ray Steinacher, an outstanding faculty member of the College<\/p>\n

for 36 years. Dr. Steinacher was a highly respected teacher who inspired<\/p>\n

and motivated students and colleagues with his integrity and dedication<\/p>\n

to patient service.  This award recognizes outstanding didactic and<\/p>\n

clinical skills in prosthodontics.<\/p>\n
