The University of Nebraska Medical Center invites nurses interested<\/p>\n

in earning bachelors or masters degrees in nursing to attend informational<\/p>\n

sessions in Beatrice, Feb. 17, to learn about ways to earn a degree with<\/p>\n

greater flexibility through Internet-based and other distance education.<\/p>\n

Informational sessions will be held at the Beatrice Community Hospital,<\/p>\n

1110 North 10th St. Programs to be discussed and times are listed below.<\/p>\n

4:30 to 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n


Diploma or associates degree to R.N.\/bachelors degree in nursing<\/p>\n

or masters degree in nursing<\/p>\n

5:30 to 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n


Bachelors degree in nursing degree to masters degree in nursing<\/p>\n

6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Diploma or associates degree to bachelors degree<\/p>\n

in nursing or masters degree in nursing<\/p>\n

Non-nursing courses taken to pursue a bachelor’s degree can be earned<\/p>\n

at any accredited colleges and will apply toward a degree through UNMC.<\/p>\n

Registered nurses don’t need a bachelor’s degree to enroll in the program<\/p>\n

for registered nurses seeking a masters degree in nursing. Some of UNMC’s<\/p>\n

nursing courses are accessible through the Internet, which offers students<\/p>\n

the flexibility of learning at home according to their schedule.<\/p>\n

UNMC faculty making presentations include Carol Pullen, Ed.D., M.S.N.,<\/p>\n

B.S.N., assistant dean for rural nursing education and Dani Eveloff, M.S.N.,<\/p>\n

The UNMC College of Nursing is the largest nursing college in the state<\/p>\n

with campuses in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney and Scottsbluff. It is the only<\/p>\n

nursing program in the state offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral<\/p>\n

degrees.<\/p>\n

UNMC is the only public academic health science center in the state.<\/p>\n

Through its commitment to research, education, outreach and patient care,<\/p>\n

UNMC has established itself as one of the country’s leading centers for<\/p>\n

cancer research and treatment, solid organ transplantation and arthritis.<\/p>\n

Nearly $32 million in research grants and contracts were awarded to UNMC<\/p>\n

scientists during the past fiscal year. In addition, UNMCs educational<\/p>\n

programs are responsible for training more health professionals practicing<\/p>\n

in Nebraska than any other institution.<\/p>\n
