The University of Nebraska Medical Center invites nurses interested<\/p>\n

in earning bachelors or masters degrees in nursing to attend informational<\/p>\n

sessions in Norfolk, Oct. 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. The session will discuss the<\/p>\n

programs and ways of earning a degree with greater flexibility through<\/p>\n

internet-based and other distance education.<\/p>\n

Nurses interested may attend informational sessions at the Northeast<\/p>\n

Community College Lifelong Learning Center, 801 E. Benjamin Ave. Programs<\/p>\n

to be discussed include the registered nurse to Bachelor of Science in<\/p>\n

Nursing degree, registered nurse to Master of Science in Nursing degree<\/p>\n

and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree to Master of Science in Nursing<\/p>\n

degree.<\/p>\n

Non-nursing courses taken to pursue a bachelor’s degree can be earned<\/p>\n

at any accredited colleges and will apply toward a degree through UNMC.<\/p>\n

Registered nurses don’t need a bachelor’s degree to enroll in the registered<\/p>\n

nurse to master of science in nursing program. Some of UNMC’s nursing courses<\/p>\n

are accessible through the Internet, which offers students the flexibility<\/p>\n

of learning at home according to their schedule.<\/p>\n

UNMC faculty making presentations include: Carol Pullen, Ed.D., assistant<\/p>\n

dean for rural nursing education and Bevely Hays, Ph.D., health systems<\/p>\n

nurse specialist, Bunny Pozehl, Ph.D., adult health and illness specialist,<\/p>\n

Kathryn Fiandt, D.N.S., family nurse practitioner and Barbara McCabe, Ph.D.,<\/p>\n

gerontological and geropsychiatric nurse specialist.<\/p>\n

The UNMC College of Nursing is the largest nursing college in the state<\/p>\n

with campuses in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney and Scottsbluff. It is the only<\/p>\n

nursing program in the state offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral<\/p>\n

degrees.<\/p>\n

UNMC is the only public academic health science center in the state.<\/p>\n

and treatment and solid organ transplantation.  More than $27 million<\/p>\n
